About Your Speakers

Peter Agiovlassitis, DTM

Peter Agiovlassitis, DTM

I first joined Toastmasters in 2009 as a founding member of Heart of Cary Toastmasters. In 2011 a new job took me out of town and I did not re-up until 2015 with Apex Toastmasters. I have my DTM and have been a club President, VPE, Area Director and District 37 Logistic Manager. I now am happy to be President of Cardinal Toastmasters and looking forward to helping members achieve their communication and leadership goals.

Heather Burns

Heather Burns

I am a creative, passionate leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and a love for music, travel, reading and starting businesses. I am currently on business number three, a commercial video production and digital marketing agency serving clients locally and nationally - Oak City Productions. I am also a mother of 3! My motivation for joining Toastmasters was to improve my public speaking skills with the hopes of becoming a professional speaker one day. I love storytelling and inspiring others. I have loved being on stage since 1st grade when I kept singing the chorus of "Tomorrow" on stage until they kicked me off (after 3 choruses).

She is currently completing her second Toastmasters pathway in Visionary Communication. When she is not speaking and helping people to understand Legalese, she enjoys singing, reading, and playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends.

Rita Lewis

Rita Lewis

I became a freelance writer and editor by accident—a happy accident, because I love ideas… working with other people on ideas… helping ideas take shape and connect with other ideas… I started my professional life as a musician, but the siren call of writing was too hard to resist. I now tackle projects for businesses on everything from health care and education to manufacturing and business development. (I sneak in a little poetry writing and wildlife gardening on weekends.) A friend invited me to try Toastmasters; I ended up joining because it's such a supportive place to develop speaking skills and tame self-doubt. It's also a great place for idea watching!

David Lindquist

David Lindquist, DTM

David Lindquist is an enthusiastic Toastmaster with a zest for setting and achieving challenges. David joined Toastmasters in 2012, earned Distinguished Toastmaster certifications in 2016 and was District 37 International Speech champion in 2014.  He has been a frequent educational presenter and Toastmasters district officer and has shared ideas on leadership, mentorship, personal development, parliamentary procedure, the Pathways Learning Experience, and club marketing to Toastmasters across the state.  Outside of Toastmasters David is a self-employed marketing consultant, native wildflower gardener, and member of the North Carolina Master Chorale.
